A Woman's Place Is Also on the Forklift: Meet Flavia Silva
Published on

With Metasa for just over two years, Flavia Silva has been building her career and, in February, took another important step on that journey. Working in the warehouse, she became the first woman at Metasa to complete the company's in-house forklift operator training and is currently the only woman at the company certified to operate the equipment.
Flavia has always wanted to learn, and when the opportunity arose, she accepted the challenge. The training, provided by the Occupational Safety team, took place over two days, with theoretical and practical content as well as tests to ensure safe operation.
The first contact brought a little fear, mainly because of the swaying. But she soon realized it was normal and felt calmer. “It was easier than I imagined, and the operation came naturally to me,” says Flavia.
More than a new professional skill, the training opened up new possibilities and greater autonomy for her. On a personal level, it also gave her the certainty that she is capable of facing new challenges.
For other women thinking about taking on new challenges, Flavia has a message: “Don't be afraid. I had butterflies in my stomach before I started too, but once you take control, you see that you are completely capable.”
This story shows us that new paths begin when we have the courage to take the first step. Congratulations, Flavia, on this achievement!
